HOTEL CHECK GREECE, part 7, Kinsterna Hotel and Spa

ROMANTIC GRECIAN HIDEAWAY.
Kinsterna Hotel & Spa is a charming hidden gem in the hills above the village of Monemvasia on the Peloponnese. The village is known for Kastro Monemvasia – a living part of Greek history from medieval times. The hotel in itself is quite rustic and peaceful. The superb Mansion style historical building is set on a hillside with views of the blue Aegean, 10 minutes drive from the sea and 10 minutes walk from the village of Agios Stefanos. It is new to our Select Collection.

Charming villages

Accommodation

Suite

A small property with only 27 rooms and suites, most with views of the Aegean or the gardens. The rooms are very special and charming; every one is different as the property has been restored in the exact style of times gone by - the Byzantine era. There are lots of stairs, so it is not suitable for people with leg problems or who use a wheel chair.

The Kinsterna Suites (number 39 very cozy and authentic, and number 43 very large) are our favourites, but we also like the Junior Suites, which are perfect for couples.

Food & beverage/facilities

Excellent food

The hotel has only one restaurant; and the food is very good. They serve excellent wines, all self produced. They also produce oil and oranges on the property.

Wine cellar - own wines

There is no gym, but a small spa with only 2 treatment rooms, different shower experiences and a Hammam. There is a big pool area and private organic garden with herbs and vegetables.

A choice of tavernas and restaurants can also be found in the picturesque medieval town of Monemvasia (10 minutes drive).

How to get to Kinsterna Hotel & Spa

It is 3.5 hrs by car from Athens. Helicopter from Athens takes 35 minutes. The hotel is 8km from historical Monemvasia. If you wish to explore this beautiful mountainous area, a hire car is recommended for those who enjoy more challenging driving.

Who to stay

Cultured, discerning couples and families with older children who appreciate quiet and good food.
