HOTEL CHECK UAE, part 7, Ritz-Carlton Dubai

As the smallest property we feature in Dubai, Ritz Carlton had a warm personal feel from the moment we arrived in the ornate lobby and were taken to our luxurious suite, to enjoy a very personal welcome.

A Select Collection greeting - chocs in style

Accommodation

We stayed in the luxurious Emirates Suite which boasts 2 bathrooms, separate living area and a terrace the size of many European city apartments. All 136 rooms/suites in the hotel look out over the pool and gardens and most boast seaview. On the ground floor palm trees can obscure the view but the advantage is direct access to the pool - a particular plus point for families. Indeed the hotel is a great family option with a daily programme of complimentary activities for children and 90% of rooms interconnecting.

Hard to leave

Facilities

The wide white sandy beach, lagoon style pool with swim-up bar and selection of excellent restaurants made it hard to force us to leave, however one of the draw cards of the property is its location in the lively Marina district and proximity to ‘The Walk’ - a 200m strip of shops, restaurants and bars to visit at your leisure. We particularly liked the Sky Bar on the 10th floor of the Hilton Hotel (all bars in Dubai are located in 4/5* hotels due to licensing laws) which had great views from the outdoor terrace.

Even in the evenings temperatures remain around 30-35 deg C at this time of year which is one drawback - outdoor bars and restaurants are not in full swing and if the humidity is also high then you really have to stay inside.

Nearby we took a visit to the Marina Mall, not one of Dubai’s largest but close to the hotel and offering a good selection of designer clothing and popular brands.
