WE HAVE JUST BEEN TO MEXICO, part 1, Rosewood Mayakoba

M is for marvelous. Our Swedish sales manager Ulrika Thelander has travelled around the world to many fabulous destinations but only recently visited Mexico. Now she reports:

“I am impressed! I now have three favorite M destinations – Maldives, Mauritius & Mexico.”

Her first port of call was Rosewood Mayakoba, which shares a beautiful private nature reserve of waterways and mangroves with Banyan Tree Mayakoba, along with a championship golf course and..
... gorgeous white sand beaches

A short drive north of holiday playground Playa del Carmen you enter this lush protected area through huge gates. We let her snapshots tell some of the story:

If you arrive in the daytime you start your stay
with a boat ride. Check-in is done in your suite.

A nice way to start your holiday!

Ulrika’s favourite accommodations at Rosewood Mayakoba were:
...the beachfront suite

and
Ulrika's own Ocean Suite number 505

Ocean Suite 505 has a perfect location not far away from the Beach Restaurant and communal pool with a stunning view from your terrace with private pool. All suites have a private pool – some smaller than others.

She can also recommend the smallest category Lagoon Studio suite, which faces the water/lakes that surround the hotel.
Your place to relax by the lagoon

There are 128 suites in total – and each one has a heated plunge pool outdoor deck and boat dock, Bose sound system, CD/DVD player and iPod docking.

Bicycles are free to rent during your stay and are available for teenagers as well. There is a small kids club just by the beachside pool...

The hotel share tennis courts with the other hotels nearby but has a beautiful Spa and gym on a private island where no children under 13 are allowed. (Bridge crossing)

The spa retreat

There are three restaurants – the smallest serves reasonably priced sushi and by the beach a traditional Mexican restaurant serves pizzas as well.

And the breakfasts are truly tropical.

And the service at this hotel is superb! You really feel special everywhere. By the pool they serve you free water bottles in ice-buckets, small canap├ęs & smoothies during the day, and of course the Beach/pool boys make up your sun chair. They even come around cleaning your glasses and give you a little head massage while you wait for your glasses to be cleaned :)

"I would recommend this hotel to anybody who wants top service," says Ulrika.
