Again and again, we visit Paris, keeping in touch with our hotels and rediscovering the romance and the luxury.  Our latest report is shared by Ulrika, sales manager Select Collection Sweden, and Laila travel consultant from our newest Norway office in Stavanger.

Ulrika Thelander enjoyed a first visit to the new Peninsula – one of the latest talking points of Paris. It was a treat of Peninsula style and service as perfected at the chain’s celebrated hotels in Asia.

Laila Ånestedt had just 28 hours in Paris, enough to taste the famed Dorchester Collection style luxury at Plaza Atheneè, infused with the special glamour of Paris.

The Peninsula – open since late 2014, is a stunning hotel! The renovation of the old former landmark hotel has taken 5 years and it is just beautiful with 166 rooms & 34 suites all done in the famous Peninsula white and black marble bathrooms, muted bedrooms with the latest technology and fantastic duvets.

The room service is discreet, superb – you even have a shoe box in the wall in your closet where you put your dirty shoes and they take them from the outside to clean them, and you even get your newspaper via this box J

On the top floor (6th) is an amazing restaurant “L´Oiseau Blanc” with views all over Paris, the Eiffel tower and a lot more famous places – a small and informal restaurant with international food, a bar and a terrace that is open during the warmer season.

On the ground floor they have a Cantonese restaurant called “Lily” – amazing decoration – and  “The Lobby” where they serve a la carte breakfast; Afternoon tea as well as French and International dishes (Open all day).  “The Kleber Bar” is small and intimate bar on the ground floor.
Amazing decor

The Spa in the basement is very stylish . You can put on your robe in your room and take the elevator direct down to the Spa where they use Espa, a fitness gym and an indoor pool makes the experience even better. I will truly recommend this hotel as one of the absolutely best in Paris right now!

The hotel is beautifully located on haute couture Avenue Montaigne, near the very beginning of the Champs-Elysees (Place de la Concorde).

To delay the time for check in (as we were so early), we wandered towards Place de la Concorde and the Champs-Elysees. We arrived at Plaza Atheneè around noon, hoping to get our room. Even better they had upgraded us to a Junior Suite Deluxe The living room had the cosy feel of  a fireplace and bookshelf. Delicious lemon cake and welcome card were in place upon arrival in our room.

As always, I love the linens and the Dorchester pillows –there is something special about them! They are for sale - c.GBP 180 for one pillow. They also sell other Dorchester items:

The hotel boasts the famed  Alain Ducasse 3* Michelin restaurant where we had our breakfast. Dinner was not for our budget this time as it started on EUR 450 per person. Another reason to visit again.

The Dior Spa

The weather was beautiful and the spring was at least 3 weeks ahead of Norway!
